December 2023

Building

We are celebrating the end of 2023 with happy and grateful hearts. Among the many reasons: we have final building plans submitted to the State of Montana for review. This is an important milestone and the result of many hours of work. In upcoming months, we look forward to constructing our manufacturing space, including site work, plumbing, electrical, and concrete. Our 500-gallon hybrid pot still is waiting in southern Missouri for us to be ready for it.

Business

At this time last year, we were still crafting our logo and learning the ins-and-outs of legislative rulemaking about distilleries. Since then, we have applied for (and received!) multiple grants; learned from established distillers in Montana, Wyoming, and Minnesota; developed and sold our first merchandise; welcomed Governor Gianforte and his team to the building; and met other local entrepreneurs with whom we hope to build partnerships. To all of those who have helped us move closer to our dream, thank you.

Distillery

In December, we had three batches of eggnog to taste test: one made with cognac, rum, and bourbon. A second made with cognac, rum, and rye whiskey. A third with cognac, rye, and aged tequila. The winner? Version one (with version three close behind for you tequila lovers out there). To scale up eggnog production and prepare for sales next holiday season, Katrina is working with Beaverhead County’s Food and Consumer Safety Sanitarian, Joyce Pollastro, to see what we need to have in place.

We wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!
