May 2023

May has been a busy month! We’re thrilled to share that we’re now a family of four: we’ve welcomed our son, Arnold, to the family. He is a sweetheart of a baby and everyone is happy, healthy, and completely in love.

Building

As we get further into the building and code requirements, our work with architect Drew Nuding has enabled us to reach out to Montana-based architecture firms who will help us with the final permitting steps. We expect that this extra time to develop and submit drawings for permits will push our construction timeline into the fall and winter.

Business

Senate Bill 209 was signed by Governor Gianforte on May 22nd. It went into effect immediately, which is exciting news for distilleries across the state.

We heard that our last pending grant - the Rural Business Development Grant - was fully awarded! This grant will help fund our design work, website development, photography, and even a little video as we get things kicked off. It really feels like all of that hard writing work this winter has paid off and we’re grateful for the support on so many fronts.

Speaking of our website, I refreshed our look with a great photo Derek took from the roof of the building.

Distillery

As the weather has turned warmer, we’ve been sipping on Montana Mules. A riff on the Moscow Mule, these cocktails are made with rye whiskey, ginger beer, and a lime. Our favorite version uses Glacier Distilling’s North Fork Rye with Reed’s ginger beer. If you’re looking for a crisp, refreshing alternative to a gin and tonic, we highly recommend a Montana Mule.
