Building
Derek and Callie have started pouring concrete footings that will support the wooden posts in the manufacturing space. The footings consist of a 10” thick 3’x3’ square and a 12” diameter pier, all reinforced with rebar. Each footing needs to cure for a week. The concrete slab will be poured around the piers.
Locals, you may have noticed the concrete piled up on the Virginia St. loading dock. Pieces of the old ramp leading down from that doorway, in November, those concrete chunks and the loading dock itself will be removed, allowing street-grade access to the warehouse.
Business / Community
We are members of the Montana Distiller’s Guild, a group of small-batch distillers and their supporters, whose mission is to promote this fast-growing industry and represent a perfect triangle of manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. The Guild publishes the Montana Distillery Trail Map, which you can find at distilleries across the state. The annual Distillers Fest will happen Saturday, November 16 in Bozeman. We’ll just attend this year but look forward to serving Terminus spirits in future years. If you’re interested in going, here is a bit more about the event (more information and tickets are on Facebook):
Sample cocktails and spirits from several Montana Distilleries in support of the Montana Distillers Guild. Light bites will be served. The theme of the event is Cat/Griz, as we prepare for the 122nd Brawl of the Wild. Bring in a canned food item for either Can the Griz or Can the Cats and you will be entered into a raffle for some swag! VIP tickets open at 3pm, General Admission is 4pm-6pm.
Distillery
When we’re open, we will produce a variety of spirits, including whiskeys, vodkas, gins, and agave spirits. Within each spirit category, there will be some experimentation as we develop our recipes. For example, for those of you who love a classic, juniper-forward gin and tonic, we intend to perfect a dry gin recipe using locally sourced botanicals. For those of you feeling adventurous, we will also play with some botanical gins (perhaps downplay the juniper notes and feature other flavor profiles – for an interesting overview of the botanicals in popular gins, see this link). Making small batches of interesting, delicious spirits means that we’ll be able to sell limited-run bottles from our walk-up window and in our future tasting room. We look forward to your feedback on what you like.
